Well, my original plan to make a post everyday has not quite come through. I have a lot of notes and ideas for future posts based on this trip, though. But following is the really, really quick over view of the journey so far....
So far we have been to Point Reyes National Seashore. Physical caches are not allowed there but we did a fun earth cache (our first one) along the earthquake trail. Earth caches take you somewhere usually of either scientific, natural or historic interest and guide you to learn something about the area. They can work well in areas that do not allow physical caches. To earn them you usually need to take a photo or email answers to a question about the area. After we finished hiking and exploring the park, we drove on to Point Reyes Station. We looked for a few geocaches here but no luck. The Fairy Finder was getting tired after hiking all morning and was just about done.
We stayed overnight at Bodega Bay. They whole next morning was geocaching, hiking and birdwatching around the area. If you are a birder, I highly recommend the Doran Park area. We really enjoyed checking out the birds there. We also spent time going along the area near the marina. During the morning we managed to find 3 more geocaches. Then back on the road toward Mendocino where we found a few more before settling into Fort Bragg for the night.
The next morning we enjoyed checking out some of the beaches and parks in the area, finding a few more geocaches in the process before heading north once again.
Future posts will have more details about these adventures, the challenges and joys of geocaching with a little one, and how geocaching has enhanced exploring new places for me.

The Explorer Fairy Travel Bug
The Fairy Finder loves to pick up sticks, stones, and other nature treasures as we all geocache together. When we are in an area looking for a geocache, she will arrange them in creative little piles so that, "The fairies will have a geocache to find, too!" So in honor of the fairies, we have gotten a fairy to travel with us. At some point in our journey, we are going to release her in a cache with the goal of traveling as much as possible.

Beginning the journey....
Welcome to my first blog. I've decided to combine it with one of my latest obsessions, geocaching.
We leave tommorrow morning for a family geocaching vacation. Stay tuned for accounts of our day to day adventures as I (NatureStudyGirl), Laughing Raven and the Fairy Finder run around the woods trying to find hidden tupperware.....
